Join the musicians in residence and Harriet Hale Woolley scholars in the Grand Salon on Sunday, December 2nd for the next Rendez-vous Musical. This informal concert series is an opportunity for them to present the pieces they are working on, and for the audience to (re)discover classical, contemporary and sometimes even new compositions in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

About the Musicians
Thomaz Tavares has been praised by the Virginia Gazette as a “polished performer, with a pure, direct sound, never wavering from the mission at hand and embracing the work’s lyrical and virtuoso demands.” A native New Yorker, Thomaz Tavares completed his Bachelor’s degree in flute performance at the renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Thomas Robertello ( Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony). During his time there he was awarded the Premier Young Artist Scholarship, 1st prize of the flute concerto competition, and played Principal flute with the University Orchestra. With an affinity for the Baroque style, Thomaz studied baroque recorder and period repertoire with Michael McCraw. Over the past summers Thomaz has been featured as performer in Halle (Germany), Tignes (France), Hot Springs (USA), Dartington (England), and given an Benefit Recital for the Williamsburg Music Club. He has most recently been a guest performer with the Open Chamber Orchestra in Paris led by Yair Benaim. He is currently studying at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris under the tutelage of international soloist Jean Ferrandis.
Zoé Grenon has been a pupil since 2013 at the regional conservatory of Saint-Maur, in the class of Fernando Rossano. She is currently preparing her musical studies diploma as well as entrance exams to higher schools. At the same time, she holds a degree in mathematics at Paris-Dauphine University, where she benefits from schedules designed to combine academic and artistic requirements.
Nicky Purser is an American pianist with Japanese and British roots who is especially drawn to sharing a range of musical styles with audiences of all ages, often while exploring cross-cultural connections. She holds degrees from the Indiana University Bloomington, as well as diplomas from the Royal Schools of Music, the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, and the Conservatoire of Boulogne-Billancourt. In 2015 she won the accompaniment prize by a unanimous jury at the Sorbonne Soloist Competition. Her studies were supported by a teaching assistantship for the Indiana University Department of Music Theory, the Harriet Hale Woolley grant, and a scholarship from the Ecole Normale in Paris. She was also an artist-resident at the American Foundation of Paris and the Cité Internationale des Arts of Paris. She also pursued counterpoint studies with Isabelle Duha. Her primary teachers have included Edmund Battersby, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Erik Berchot, and Julien Le Pape.
Rebecca Lawrence is a postgenre bassist who’s creative interests range from contemporary and traditional classical music, experimental, pop, and folk music to modern art and social justice. She earned her Bachelor’s in 2018 from the University of Southern California and currently is studying in Paris at the Institut Rabbath International Paris. Significant teachers include François Rabbath, David Allen Moore, Paul Ellison and Jordan Anderson.
