General Conditions

The Fondation des États-Unis offers housing to American and international students for the academic year (September or October 1st to June 28th) as well as students or international researchers for shorter stays (such as July-August, other dates may be possible depending on availability). Rooms are attributed based on availability and the application of the candidate.

Academic Year

During the academic year the FEU accepts first-time applications full time and readmission requests, as well as international students “on exchange” from other houses at the CiuP.

First-time candidates must

  • Be accepted to a first year of Master’s or higher (second year of Master’s, doctorate…), with proof of registration for the upcoming year
  • Show proof of U.S. citizenship
  • If you are enrolled in English-language studies, contact us to be considered despite the absence of U.S. citizenship

Application process at the FEU:

  1. Check that you meet the admission criteria
  2. Fill out this form on the CiuP website
  3. Send a copy of the form to the FEU
  4. The FEU will answer all admission requests. Please wait for our response.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Readmission candidates must

  • Be in good academic standing with their current school or university
  • Be on good terms with the administration of the FEU
  • Have a detailed plans for studies for the upcoming year
  • Show proof of U.S. citizenship (except for students “on exchange”) or enrollment in English studies
  • Have stayed at the CiuP for less than 3 years (including in another house, e.g. in the case of dual nationality)
  • Readmission is not automatic

Art/Music Ateliers

The art and music ateliers are rented to American artists and musicians based on their application and interview. Some exceptions can be made for French students working on American themes or with a strong motivation for intercultural exchange with American students.

 

First-time candidates must

  • Be accepted to a first year of Master’s or higher (second year of Master’s, doctorate…) OR present a project requiring a stay in Paris (an exhibition, a concert, a performance, or other artistic project)
  • Show proof of registration for the upcoming academic year OR a letter of recommendation from a mentor, professor, or venue of the artistic project
  • Show proof of U.S. citizenship

Registration process at the FEU:

  1. Check that you meet the admission criteria
  2. Fill out this form of the CiuP website
  3. Send a copy of the form to the FEU
  4. Include a cover letter, CV, and portfolio, with recordings or videos
  5. The FEU will answer all admission requests. Please wait for our response.

  • Explain in detail their plans for full-time studies/artistic project for the following academic year
  • Show proof of citizenship
  • Have stayed at the CiuP for less than 3 years (including in another house, e.g. in the case of dual nationality)
  • Readmission is not automatic

Short-term Bookings

All nationalities are accepted for short-term bookings of 1 week to 3 months. In July, priority is given to stays of 1 month.

All applicants must:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Reserve a minimum of 5 nights *Subject to availability. Minimum stay/payment 3-4 weeks in June and July
