A concert to celebrate women artists
Conceived as an immersive artistic experience, this multidisciplinary event celebrates women composers and examines the place of women artists in contemporary creation and cultural programming.
On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the Fondation des États-Unis is organizing a unique concert bringing together musicians, a poet, and visual artists in residence. The free event, with prior reservation required, will take place on Sunday, March 8 at 6 p.m.
This season, the Foundation’s artistic residency welcomes Raha Sepehr, an Afghan artist, singer, actress, and poet. Her texts, shaped by themes of freedom and exile, have inspired several visual artists in residence – Nelly Feillant, Katya Vaz, Zuzanna Winiarska, Amandine Thony, Lia Pannetier, Kenza Ka, and Katie Faust – who offer interpretations through various media, including pastel, weaving, and painting.
Their creations will be projected during the concert before being brought together in a zine specially published for the occasion. At the end of the evening, audience members will be able to take home this original artistic object, conceived as both an extension of and a tangible keepsake from the event.
The musical program will also feature pianists Ariela Bohrod and Jas Ogiste, as well as soprano Bibi Simons, who will perform works by Florence Price and Anna Clyne : an opportunity to (re)discover the work of these composers.
