Who is Jared ?

The Franco-American baritone Jared Andrew Michaud is a Fulbright–Harriet Hale Woolley Fellow for the 2023–2024 academic year in Paris, where he studies with François Le Roux and Pascal Rogé as part of a duo singing course at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and also receives private coaching from Susan Manoff. During his stay in Paris, Jared further explores the relationship between the Franco-Canadian folk music that surrounded him during his childhood and the French art song repertoire he now performs.

With his duo partner, pianist Christina Koti, Jared won First Prize at the 2022 Federation Art of the Song Scholarship Competition (New York), the 4th SGSM International Vocal Competition (Slovenia), and the 2022 Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Duo Competition (London). More recently, they have studied and performed lied duo concerts with Anna-Lucia Richter, Ammiel Bushakevitz, and Wolfram Rieger. They also represent France as emerging artists in the Young Europe Sings program, co-funded by the European Union. The duo has performed recitals in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Greece, appearing at venues such as St. James Piccadilly in London, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan, Yale University, the Rhodes International Music Festival, and the Theocharakis Foundation in Athens.

Beyond recital work, Jared has performed as a soloist in numerous operas and concerts, including the Nostos Festival at the Stavros Niarchos Center in Athens. In 2022, he made his debut with the Welsh National Opera in the Young Company production of Cheryomushki, singing the role of Barabashkin, and in 2023 Jared performed with the chorus of the prestigious Grange Park Opera Festival. Jared earned his Master’s degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London, graduating with Distinction as a Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholar, and his Bachelor’s degree from Yale University, where he graduated with Distinction and cum laude.
