Gabriel Chalick

Gabriel Chalick is a trumpet player originally from South Florida whose work moves between jazz, Western classical music, and Mediterranean musical traditions. Coming from a long line of musicians, he began making music at an early age and has developed an approach grounded in jazz improvisation while engaging with musical traditions across the globe. This upcoming year, Gabriel will be in residence at the Fondation des États-Unis as a recipient of the Fulbright Program Harriet Hale Woolley Fellowship in the Arts. His recent work centers on how improvisation facilitates community across cultural traditions. Gabriel has participated in the Silkroad Global Musician Workshop, International Trumpet Guild Competition, and the Brevard Music Festival. Recent performances include Dizzy’s Club, the Kauffman Center, and a tour of the Balkans. He recently earned a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Montclair State University and previously studied art history and archaeology at Princeton University.
