Who is Florence ?

Florence Giroux Gravel is a graduate of Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and New York University (NYU). She has exhibited in Canada, the United States, France, and Iceland, notably at the Sorbonne Art Gallery, Carvalho, the Plural Art Fair, the Papier Fair, the Foire en Art Actuel de Québec, and the Musée Marius-Barbeau. Her works are part of the collections of Claridge, Ubisoft, Kirkland & Ellis, Institut Teccart, Stein Monast, Régitex, as well as numerous private collections. Florence is the recipient of four Première Ovation grants, one in Public Art and three in Research and Creation. She also serves on the boards of Manif d’Art, La Biennale de Québec, and La Chambre Blanche.

Giroux Gravel explores light, color, space, and material. At the intersection of art, architecture, and perception, she creates immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between the visible and the invisible. She works with glass, mirrors, thread, and fabric, materials she selects for their ability to become sensitive surfaces upon which light reveals and transforms itself. Through them, she investigates chromatic modulation, frequencies, vibrations, and optical effects. Her works, grounded in rhythm, repetition, and resonance, engage the eye, involve the body, and awaken the mind. They invite a meditative wandering in which space vibrates and color breathes.
