Who is e•imo ?

E.imo has long been captivated by shapes and colors, a visual language she has cultivated since childhood. After a successful career in the business world, culminating in an Executive MBA from ESCP Europe, she returned to her true passion: art. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Arts and Vision, graduating with highest honors from the École des Arts de la Sorbonne. She then deepened her practice at Columbia University School of the Arts, where she began collaborating with renowned painter David Headley, known for his monumental works. For the past four years, she has worked closely with him as both a student and an assistant, benefiting from his extensive expertise in contemporary art in New York.

Shaped by her family’s history of exile, E.imo creates “musical” paintings that explore history, memory, and power dynamics, while advocating for universality, harmony, and unity. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne under the supervision of Yann Toma. Her research focuses on censorship in art, the political, social, and cultural forces that shape artistic expression, as well as the self-censorship that often constrains artists. During her residency at the Fondation des États-Unis, she plans to create artworks in collaboration with other artists-in-residence on themes of peace and inclusion, in keeping with the values of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris.
