The Fondation des États-Unis (FEU) is delighted to welcome Sarah Lawrence College’s (SLC) first Gala des Artistes. SLC in Paris places students at the heart of one of the world’s most magnificent cities. The program offers students exceptional opportunities for exploring the visual and performing arts: from dancing to drawing, photography or painting. SLC has been a partner to the FEU for many years and it is with great enthusiasm that the students of SLC Paris are presenting their first Gala des Artistes. This event is the culmination of a year of intellectual and artistic stimulation that will be presented in the Grand Salon. You will be invited to attend the projection of short films, to see the paintings and drawings created at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, to hear readings of poems and, to see dance performances, among other surprises.

Katia Barricklow
My name is Katia Barricklow and this is my 4th year studying cinema at SLC. For the gala, I am presenting Une Ode au 13ème, a short film that I directed last semester during an intensive program at EICAR. The main character in this short film is Messina Hernandez-Simpson, a SLC student and FEU resident.
Natalie Beier
My name is Natalie Beier and this is my 3rd year at SLC where I study art history, photography, and French studies. I am a photographer who specializes in portraits and self-portraits. I even started my own portrait company 7 years. My current focus is on capturing natural, expressive, and bright images and the concept of character development. This year I am taking a black and white film photography course which is my first experience with this medium. I have chosen to display portraits and street photography.
Tatiana Mezitis
My name is Tatiana Mezitis and this is my 3rd year at SLC. I am currently studying art history, and I love exploring Paris’ museums and art galleries. I like creating artwork and my favorite medium is collage. I am presenting my collages which were inspired by several themes such as Parisian fashion, seasons, and feelings.
Emily Sawaked
My name is Emily Sawaked and this is my 3rd year at SLC where I usually study journalism and immigration sociology. I also study art: drawing and painting. I like every form of art: collages, paintings, drawings, carvings, and more. I have chosen to display drawings and some with watercolor about a book that I want to write. It is a story about healing and faith (in every aspect).
Isadora Scherer-Perkins | Abaigeal McCarthy
The students from the Dance Composition class will present short movement studies based on class assignments which explore the use of space, time and qualities of movement. The studies range from abstract to literal/figurative interpretations of the problem proposed during each studio session. Each student will also present an individual choreographic project, developed over the semester. These performances expand their dance-making research through collaboration, transmission, the use of music and of film.
